When not fishing in grass/hydrilla, if you use finesse techniques, which do you use the most, a drop shot or a shakey head?

I let the fish tell me that; because they will both be used as I go to the areas that will get one or the other.

If you are asking which one I have caught the most fish on? I would have to say they are about equal on a finesse fishing day; as I am back and forth between the two depending on the cover as I work my way out to deeper water. It is very hard for me to put the power tackle down because I am hard headed and want to stay in that heavy cover.

I am sure if I was an exclusive finesse fisherman then one or the other would shine through.

Thanks for the reply Donald. I fish with an old fishing buddy, in his boat, and limit the number of rods I put in the boat as a courtesy. Therefore, I need to rig one finesse rod only. Of course, I can always take the time while fishing to change rigs, but I am trying to decide which one to use if I only use one. Guess I could fish one trip with a drop shot, and the next trip with a shakey head, keep alternating for several trips, and settle on which has worked best. But am just curious to know if you guys on the forum prefer one over the other. Always helps to know the experience of others.

I tie both to the same line. Use the shakey head as my weight for the drop shot. When you get into schooling bass, you catch a lot of doubles on it. DO NOT USE a circle hook for the drop shot, because of teh hook setting techniques on each. I usually tie an EWB 2/0 or 1/o hook for my drop shot hook. Hope this helps. Appreciate the reply Thad. I saw a video with it being rigged that way, but have never tried it. Was a little afraid the lines and lures would tangle, but maybe not. I need to try it.
