I have a Suzuki DF 150 on our boat. We got it in the middle of the summer so only ran it a few times the first summer and then the second summer. Wanting to do the first round of maintenance on it. Planning on changing the oil/filter and the water separator filter. Will also be changing the fuel/water separator filter.

What all else would people with info on this motor recommend? We do not put a lot of hours on it.

I'm sure I will grease whatever I can find to. I read something about recommending changing the High Pressure Fuel filter every two years. Anything else? I'm likely going to hold off on the HP fuel filter, motor only has 10-15 hours on it.

Also what kind of oil do you use? Have talked to several people who all run Mobile 1. Looking in the manual it calls for a 10w30 or 10w40 that meets API SG, SH, SJ, SL, SM. Mobile 1 doesn't list those

Well I have spent the day working my google fu on it and here is what I found. There are two camps those that say only to use oils designed for marine engines and those that say any oil of the proper grade/weight is acceptable.

In the Suzuki manual it says use a NMMA FC-W or API SG, SH, SJ, SL, SM approved oil.

Well looking up the API site it lists many of the SG, SH, etc as obsolete. Further it says the most current rating is SN and that it is backwards compatible so if it meets/exceeds SN then it also meets/exceeds SG, SH, SJ, SL, and SM. Almost all of the major brands... Penzoil, Mobil, Castrol, Valvoline etc... are SN certified and any of them in a 10W-40 are (according to the Suzuki owners manual) acceptable for use.

Call your dealer and ask them? Seems like a good option.

2017 is going to open up a big bag of worms with this. Most all oils are going up a class in API specs, and some will not be backwards compatible.

I put mobil 1 in all 4 strokes. Just use the recommended viscosity. At 10-15hrs you shoudn`t have to do anything. 25hrs is the first service.
