Hey this is one of those "proud Dad post." My oldest son (13) has gotten good enough to fish the day by himself. This is good because I have two more that still need a little help (age 10 and 5) All three of them would be better if they would practice fly fishing as much as they practice baseball. The oldest has caught trout in four different states this summer, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Arkansas. The other two got to fish three different states. If you would like to watch the young man in action you can visit my you tube channel and look for the only video under the play list "catching fish."

Ya'll have a great day and thanks for listening while I brag on my son.

By the way, I will be in Grapevine in Sept. teaching at the Texas FFF Expo. I am going to have lots of time to stand around casting and would love to meet some of you.

Thanks
Bill

So nice when you teach a person to fly fish and they do well, especially your children. Congratulations on your success and correct a very nice video. Your son played that fish well.

Thanks for letting me brag. "They grow up so fast and time is so fleeting" Exactly, yet I will admit there is a little bit of me that is glad that we finally hit this mile stone. I have done several years of the two oldest having a knot at the same time or needing a new fly with the youngest crying because it is not his turn.

This summer was a breath of fresh air. The oldest fished on his own, the 10 year old caught a lot of fish close enough that I could help with the fly changes and knots, while the 46 year old proceed to catch a lot of good trout with a five year old hanging off the rod constantly repeating "Me do it by myself."

We have got to show them now so they can take us when we are old.

Bill
