I've always wanted to try it.

What's the fishing pressure like? Is it worth a 2 hr drive to bank fish?

Due to the Summer heat mixing with the already hot water the talapia have moved up the river. They were so thick a few weeks ago that we probably could have just used a dip net to fill the cooler. Beware of the other boaters. They were even more abundant than the talapia. Every boat on the lake was up the river! Good luck! Take extra worms! We used 3 containers before we ran out. Catfish were thick too!

I have never been and wouldn't mind getting the kids into some tilapia. Are you talking about the creek that runs in on the north tip of the reservoir?

I fished Sunday out there for Talipia. Go way up the North River where it really gets narrow. Schools of them everywhere.

Problem I had was getting them to bite. Caught one, but did manage to catch 12 really nice catfish between 3-5 lbs.

as said above...go up the river. worm under a hook with no weight...easy. Take a cast net and fill your coolers.

Two guys today had coolers full. I would hate to clean that many fish but I applaud their effort.

I spoke with those guys today also. We put in at 12:30, first time on the lake for me and headed north. Got in the river but never saw the huge schools. Talked with two guys in a red/black skeeter and they said there was a huge school between both our boats. Well, my sunglasses aren't polarize so I couldn't see them at all. Makes it difficult when you can't see or follow the schools. My son (7) caught the only two tilapia today. Hopefully our next outing will be more productive.

Bout the same as you buy in the store. The good thing is you know the ones you catch were not raised in waste water settling ponds like the ones from Southeast Asia.

We fried the one pic above like we do our sandbass. The tilapia have the same blood vain (red meat) like sandbass do. We cut this out the same we do on sandbass. My wife and I thought it taste exactly like sandbass fried. Next time we will bake them to compare to store bought ones. Heard the wild caught ones are healthier than store bought ones.

How did you do jwcromer?
