I keep reading about how much better the Yellow Magic topwater baits are. What color and what size Yellow Magic is your favorite?

Theyre alright , I catch more fish off of a pop-r personally....but the price you pay for ym's definately give you a confidence boost. I throw a bone colored one when I do throw em

I wouldn't get caught up in yellow magic vs pop-r. Either bait will perform under the right circumstances in the hands of the right person. The yellow magics are hand crafted, and have special features such as glitter on the belly. These make this bait stand apart when held in the hand. Your paying more for quality, asctetics, and a little different action
Oh, and I throw the Tennessee Shad in both 1/4 & 1/2 oz. Bone too...

Personally,
I like the discontinued 3/8 Plus 1 YM better than all the rest of them. I like the baby bass color and the smoke shad and alewife, too. I like the 1/4 oz better than the 1/2 oz. I keep the original hooks on them (thin and bendable), but loosen the drag on my reel, so I don't pull them out of their mouths. I have caught 3 8's, 2 7's, numerous 6s. 5s and 4s on the original hooks, so no problems here. Been throwing them since summer of 2000. Triton Mike Bucca gave me my first one for Christmas. Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Yellow Magic out perform any other popper on heavily pressured waters. IMHO. Bone or the Blue Backed Herring for me.

Ask the guys in my club. I've been putting the whooping on them for the past several years, now they all own a YM or two. I still out fish them because it's all in the presentation. Bone or Alwife and change the hooks!!

I agree with Thad the 3/8 were awesome. Smoke shad, bone and alewife. I find a quicker retrieve is more consistently productive FOR ME. 5-6 quick small pops, short pause, repeat.
