Couldn't sleep well, so got up early and hit the lake. I was excited for the cooler weather and knew it would be a great day to be fishing, cloudy, cool, and just enough wind. I started around 4:45, well before sunrise. I was throwing a black/ purple flek brush hog. Caught a few dinks, them around the 10th cast Hooked into a 8.27. I'm going to try to enhance the video to see if I can get it where it's viewable. Got some good pics on my phone though, more on that later. Caught a few more 1-2lb fish then it started to get light enough to see and started to chunk the buzzbait. They were slamming it! Was mostly fishing road beds, with stick ups around it and the fish were scattered from 8" deep to 3' deep. Caught a nice 4-5 lber (video below) and some 2-3 lbers then the sun broke through. Could have prolly caught more fish shallow, but opted to try and get a deep bite going, I had passed over some nice schools when I was idling in. About the 6th cast I had a fish pick up my Carolina rig, set the hook and it didn't even budge. Got her up, let her fight a while, then got down to land her, and heard caplunk, and saw my phone fluttering to the bottom of 24 foot deep water. Ended up landing her, weighed her on my scales, 11.3 unofficial on my scales. Caught a couple more smaller fish there then hit up the damn, and caught another pretty nice fish and some small schooling fish on drop shot. I lost every picture I took up to that big fish, but thankfully have the garmin virb xe, something to help collaborate all my crazy stories my wife never believes. Thank god for insurance, only had to pay a 99$ deductible for a 700$ phone. I have over 7 hours of footage to condense and edit so when I get time I'll post a full video I've caught some DD's in my life, but usually it's a big fish and not much else, today was one of the best days of my life. My best 5 would've went over 30 I'm sure, something else I doubt I've ever done. Hopefully the fish stay shallow a while, they were a blast to catch!

Nice job. Too bad about your phone. I was out there Sunday and catching fishing on about everything, dropshot, t-trig worm, crankbait, spinnerbait and topwater. Usually, for Roberts that many different patterns don't seem to produce for me in one trip. I started off deep and moved shallow. I was catching some right on the bank. I never did catch any size. But the fish seemed to be in wolf packs following around the schools of shad.
My trolling motor cable broke about midday so my trip was cut short.
