This may have been discussed before but I ran a search and didn’t come up with anything. I understand the reason behind the rule and I am all for people getting their kids involved.
However why would anyone fish alone and pay the full entry when they could grab the neighbors kid and bring them along to get a discounted entry? Are these “junior teams” eligible for the full payout that other teams get? It also is a way a cheater (like RR) could go around the observer rule that solo anglers are subjected to.
If I am off base someone please correct me.

Interested in this. I'm thinking about fishing this next year with my 13 year old daughter.

Basschamps pays their entry. Don't know about payout. It's a way to help the younger generation get out on the water at a competitive level. Thinking about doing this with my son next year

I can't speak to why someone chooses to fish alone. Maybe they don't know any kids that they can put in their boat. Payout is the same if you cash with a kid in the boat. I've fished with a kid at the last two regular season events on Fork. Payouts on most trails are determined by the number of paid teams. Since BC covers the Junior's half of the entry, payout is the same.
I haven't thought about the cheating aspect, but I think you'd be better off doing that with a family member or best friend. Kids talk.

Thanks for the responses, seems like a really good deal and a way for a guy to get his kid involved without sucking up the entire entry fee.
The cheating thing was probably a stretch on my part and in no way did I mean to disrespect Bass Champs. Dishonest people will cheat regardless of what rules are in affect.
