I have fished with Dolphin Docks for since the late 80's. Only 1 trip was bad and that was because they had an engine failure when they first fired up the engine at the dock that morning, so the trip was aborted before it started. I understood, mechanical things can happen, just glad it happened there and not while we were out! A couple of others went on tirades with profanity but that's how people are. They gave us our money back but it did wipe out any chance of offshore fishing that day as everything else was booked by then. I prefer the Dolphin Express though, smaller, faster and a lot less crowded than some of the other boats. Went to Scat Cat later that day to try to save the trip but that was more of pleasure cruise for tourists (short 4-5 hr trip). Over 40 people onboard and 1 kingfish caught, I never lost a bait, lol. Never again. I'll stick to the 12 hr trips.

I too have fished with DD for 34 years. Unfortunately the business today is not utilizing the same integrity it did in the past.

Dolphin Docks ... though not my choice .... Is probably the most successful of the three party boat docks in Port A. So not everyone is experiencing this type of event.

*** UPDATE ***

I got a phone call yesterday from Paul Dirk, the owner of DD. He would not elaborate on his deckhands drinking, as it seemed like he just didn't want to discuss it. However, he apologized for the negative experience my daughter endured. He also understood why I would be upset. He has offered a free 8 hour trip for my daughter and I to take at anytime. So I will try to take up his offer in October.

That sounds very reasonable. Glad to see they are trying to make it up to you.

Agreed. The fact he took the time to call me, acknowledge mistakes were made in communication and offered to make it right, was good enough for me.

I went out with Dolphin Docks a few years ago with some buddies and also had a bad experience. They had everyone on the boat fishing on the bottom but no one was catching anything. One of the deck hands brought his daughter along to fish and she was drift fishing and catching kings left and right. I asked the deck hand if my group could drift fish and was told that they didn't want to deal with tangled lines. After watching her catch 3 more fish before anyone else on the boat had caught a single fish, I took my weight off and began drift fishing. One of the deck hands came over and told me that if I didn't put my weight back on I would forfeit my rod and not be able to fish the rest of the trip. We fished the rest of the day and no one in my group caught a single fish. We went inside and sat at the last table available and the lady working the concession stand came over and said that was her table (she also had a chair behind the concession stand). She raised hell until we got up and all 4 of us paying customers sat on the floor while she sat in her table. On the way back in the deckhands began passing around a tip jar and got very aggressive telling us that their family was depending on tip money. All around horrible trip. I've fished with several other deep sea charters and never had any issues.
