Try different methods at times. Small spoons fooled several pigs today. Fish them just like a jig, dead stick or slowly raise or lower. Don't overwork them like you would for sandbass.

Thanks for the post Mr. Earnest...I keep a few 1/16 oz. spoons in the boat that I bought for crappie but I've not used them yet. I always thought the slow flutter would trigger a bite. Believe I'll give them a try.

Used to use em in Louisiana on Cypress lake to catch crappie. Never tried em here.

I catch them on Bardwell with the large version with red hook, no feather.

I have a hard enough time keeping a single hook from hanging up in brush. No way I am dropping a treble hook down there.

I've used Swedish pimples to catch crappie (and other species) before. As for the treble, I'd swap it out with a single hook.

The spoon comes with a small treble hook. I cut one prong off. If you don't set the hook to hard in the brush you can usually shake it loose.
