Replacing my 25p Tempest with a 25p Fury on a 521 Ranger w/250 Mercury Pro XS. Heard it has better lift... I got the new Fury from the previous owner when I bought the boat but it hasn't been used yet. Do ya'll run the Fury on this motor with the plugs out or does it tend to slip too much? TY, 361v.

Fury 3 blade, you need to have additional 1/4 inch holes drilled by each blade to get a better hole shot. If I were you, I would wait for the Fury 4 blade to be released. No need to drill more holes and the 4 blade will have more lift and hole shot.

I've been waiting and waiting for this prop... My hole shot and my 2015 21TRX Triton is freaking horrible... Its not the boat because my bud has the same boat with a G2 and its flys out of the hole... It's the Mercury 250 Pro XS I'm telling you... This is why they are coming out with a new prop because they've screwed with the motors so much they've lost that power for a good hole shot!!

I have a theory about that. I think Merc tuned their Pro XS motors to have more top end speed and in doing so lost a bunch of low end torque. Even my last Bullet with the 300XS had no low end torque. It would struggle to push the boat up onto the trailer.

The Yam SHO I have now is kind of the opposite. Tons of low end torque but top end is not that hot, IMO. Don't get me wrong. I like the SHO but it ain't no speed demon on top end.

Last I heard, the mercury pro xs was detuned for emissions. They have also noticed a lower top end in the recent years. The sho and Mercury are neck and neck on top end in my opinion. However Mercury does seem to build better props.

I got me a 300 xs on my new rig, if it does not come up out of the hole and scream I will be very disappointed, the racing engines are like 5K more than a pro xs.

361V, just bolt it on and go. That's what I run on my 2014 Z520C. After you run it a while pull it off and send it to Matt at Outboard Propellors in Longview. You will be surprised whe you put it back on. I was big time.

Roger,

You may be disappointed in the holeshot of the 300XS. I had two of them both on Bullets. One of my boats was a competition hull at 960#. The other was standard weight around 1250 or so. I think the 250XS has more low end than the 300XS. Spoke to the dealer about it and he agreed. The 300XS will be faster on the big end but the holeshot may be underwhelming to you.

I really think Merc has tuned the engine so the peak HP is produced on the upper end of the RPM range. I drilled so many holes in a couple of props they looked like swiss cheese. That motor needs a LOT of ventilation on holeshot so the motor won't lug.

Call me if I can help you with set up on your new boat.

Does anyone have a 25P Fury for sale? Send me a message if you do.

Ok since we are on the subject, I have a 05 Z 520 with a 225 Optimax on it and it is a dog coming out of the hole
with a brand new 25 pitch tempest. 2 plugs out spins out with all 3 out. I also have 12ft talons on the back.
