Looking to head to Lake Bastrop this weekend with my father, any advice where to launch? Areas to avoid? I managed to download the LCRA website: Lake Bastrop

What are the good areas to fish and do I have to worry about trees, stumps, rocks, aliens, zombies, etc..?

Thanks!

Either launch is fine. Only timber is in the north coves. Plenty of grass, work the edges in the morn. Watch for schooling main lake but it might be sporadic and may not last long.

Water temps will be in the upper 90s.

The lake is super easy to run. Not much to worry about all.

Be careful if you launch at South Park. The lake is about 2' low. I was there a couple of weekends ago and a guy fishing a club tournament told us some people in his club were having trouble when they launch. He said their trailers were dropping off the end of the ramp since the lake was low. The next day one of park employees told us the same thing. The North Park ramp goes deeper into the water so you shouldn't have any issues with that ramp. Cedar Cove and Mid Lake Cove have been very good areas to fish.
Good Luck.

Have a Blessed Day,
Mike

Throw a frog over the grass. Especially if there is little to no wind.

Maybe after all this rain I might go out and give the Lake a try

Unlike nearby Fayette County lake, you can forget about Bastrop rising due to rain. It just doesn't happen. The power plant keeps the lake a constant 1-2 foot low.

Be safe,
