The last two lure photo's you posted are really nice...as are all of them. I'm not sure how you're gonna get much better...they're dead on. 2cents

Thanks for the kind words.

I like the colors and orders they're shot in ... I think the main thing will be sorting the time the netting goes on. For instance, I put it on before shooting the purple in the last one, but I think I should shoot the purple first.

It's a fairly complex lure as far as color layering ....there are 8 colors, some shot twice at different times...so it's just a matter of making a solid "paint schedule" for it. It's close though . smile

shoot the color you want the outline of the scales to be first, put the scale mask on and then shoot the color you want the scales to be.

That's what I've been doing .... I was only saying that for things like the purple, I don't want it to be "scaled"...much like I don't want the kill spot to be scaled.... So those need to be shot without mesh on. laugh

i don't use any netting. Most baits have a texture that gives the illusion of scales anyway, and I've never really been happy with my results.

I dont use it on all baits, just some. In clear water a scale pattern can help break up the "shinyness" of a bait
