I want to set up a flipping/pitching combo, can I get away with using the combo for frog fishing and swimbaits? so far I have a kast king royale 7 to 1 gear ratio reel, had to buy one to try, and I'm thinking about putting it on an abu veritas or berkley lightning stick, going to spool up with 50lbs braid, I know a lot of people suggest mono for swimbaits so I'm going to try to pick up an extra spool, I bank fish and really don't want to carry more than three combos, right now my other two setups are an abu black max, newer one on a medium tourney series gander mountain rod, and an outdoor angler spinning reel on a shakespeare excursion rod

7' or 7'6" MH to H will work for most of that stuff. Veritas is definitely lighter, the lightning rod is cheaper and a really tough rod.

Having said that I think a 6.3:1 reel and a 6'6" MH rod with 15lb big game mono is the most versatile multi use set up a guy can have. Works great for many different techniques from weightless baits to spinner baits to Texas rigged plastics or square bill crank baits etc...

See you on the lake and have a great day!

It'll work for multiple duty, not ideal, but should be fine. Go with the Veritas in MH unless you are really cranking the frog around heavy pads/timber or throwing 7"+ (2-3oz) swim baits.

I picked up some combos at Bass Pro Shop during their spring sale and have now used them all year and really like the versatility of them. They are Pro Qualifier reels in 7.1 on Carbonlite 7 foot medium heavy rods. I have used them now for Spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits, swim jigs, swim baits, frog baits, flipping baits and Carolina rigs. They have worked really well on all of these baits and best thing of all is that during the sale I paid about $ 100.00 on these combos. I use McCoys 50lb and 65lb braided line and 15lb copolymer line depending on what bait I am throwing.
