I am wondering what people catch at night in the surf and off the Jettys verses during the day ? If anyone has used submersible lights ? ( especially surf side area)

You can catch most of the same fish at night as during the day. Obviously being able to see is the biggest obstacle. Most of the folks I've seen fishing at night in the surf were targeting sharks. Jetties are a little bit different. If you can find a way to use submersible lights without them getting hung up in the rocks you should do fine for trout. I would think that will be difficult with the waves though. If you do fish the jetties at night, be extra careful walking (if you decide to fish further out than the parking area) because those rocks getting slippery and with limited vision it makes it even more risky.

Thanks Scott ! I have learned the hard way about proper lighting , ( a few nasty falls and hooks in the hand ) .
i made a self contained battery powered light system that floats over the waves here in north Texas that I anchor to the bottom . Then have a land line for getting it back in . Will a light draw in flounder / flukes ?
Also besides the slippery rocks , and other dangers ? Are there snakes in the Jettys ,coral maybe ? Snakes are probably the biggest issue up where I am the other night I had three Cotten mouths under it , scared up another 2 pulling it in . But hey that's how you know it's working .

I have always heard that if you wear a pair of cleats on the jettys it helps with traction. When I fish the surf at night it is usally for sharks. I have never seen snakes on the jetty at night.
