My son's birthday this month turning 13, family and I are going to rent a vacation house to celebrate on Lake Fork never fished it for catfish might try for some crappie too. I have only fished lake around Austin, Granger, LBJ, Waco, Buchanan. Never been to any Lakes up that way. I wanted to see if anyone can help with where, what to use best I wanted to pick up some Stubby's cheese bait on the way out. I will have several kids with me on our boat, just want to get a general idea of where to look, seems like a huge lake. Any help would be a blessing just want to have a good time with the kiddos, see a bunch of smiles.

I have never fished fork before but it's a good lake for cats from what I've heard. Stubbys is a excellent choice. I would recommend getting some stubby bait and work it near fallen trees in the water. If your able to, I'd recommend picking up some big marvs punch bait to. It's smelly but good and easy. Just shove you a size 4 treble hook in with a stick and pull it out at a angle and your locked and loaded. Stubbys and big marvs are both excellent baits, you can't go wrong with either of them. Just fish the fallen trees and if you can find any creek channels that dump in to the lake, those would be good to. Good luck, let us know how you do thumb

Get some range cubes, for chum, available at any feed store, and some Stubbys.
Chum several areas in 28-30 feet of water near timber and creek channels and you should be good to go.
Chum and fish shallower if necessary. If you get no bites in 20 minutes, keep moving. Lots of bays, most all of them have resident cats.
Contact Stubby for the best information.

if you are going to be there for a few days, get a onion sack from your grocery store,(a sack that loose onions come in) ,go to the feed store or academy and buy a deer block break it in half and sink it the day before, go fish it with some STUBBYS and Chicken Livers, 20-30 FOW, like taking candy from babies.

Thanks. On Google earth I see tons of standing timber which reference that to navionics webapp depths. There are alot of different locations with trees in that depth. Is there a certain cove or area. We will be staying on the 3rd arm on the right side mid lake. I guess Ill just grab some stubbys have him mail it and grab a bag of range cubes, bait a few areas when we get there and see what happens. Would be nice to have a general area dont want to go to far with kids not knowing that lake could be dangerous to venture off.

I haven't fished Fork much, but if you take it slow around the trees you will be fine. Like someone said earlier, bait out a hole or two in 28 ft of water and drop a bait into it - you should be successful.
