Just curious as to what everyone is using this year in August. Its hot and the bite is getting tough. I myself use a strike king spinner bait in a midnight special color with a small swirl tail jig as a trailer. I have better hook up ratio in the evening hours than in early morning. What has been your experience?

I've found myself going small right now. Small jigs, 3 1/2 inch craws, small swimbaits, finesse worms. It's the best way for me to get a bite. One cool bait that's been unusually productive for me is this: Megabass Drunk Fly It's been a hot little producer lately.

I fish shallow with finesse baits. Smaller jigs (3/16 - 1/4 oz.)with smaller craw trailer, smaller beaver baits and Rage Bugs Tex-posed with 1/8 oz. weight, finesse worms on shaky heads, and smaller (1/4 oz.)Booyah Pad Crasher hollow frogs. I start early mornings and fish this way until about 11am, focusing on shady areas.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.
