What kind of places do you guys look for big shallow bass now that alot of the flooded cover is out of the water due to lower lake levels?

Boat houses and stumps on creek channel swings next to shallow flats. Shallow vegetation where you can find it. Shade.

Shallow water is relative to the fishery, it could be 4ft or it could be 6 inches depending on the place.

I have had good success this summer in and around water willow that is on or close to channel swings. Other years (or weeks, or days, or hours) it can be docks, overhanging limbs, reeds, etc. Literally any piece of cover that is offering an ambush point, cover, shade, temperature change or some better oxygen can hold big fish really shallow.

Being stealthy with your lure entry into the water is crucial to shallow water fishing.

Pick up a few baits you're confident in and get to covering water. Once you run into some better fish, duplicate that presentation to similar targets around the lake. I think it was Jason Christi who wrote an article on Bassmaster called 5 pounders don't lie or something similar to that. It's talked about if you catch a good fish, they are there for a reason, remember that.

I say we fish 5 days a week and work 2.

You guys and your jargon. What's a channel swing?

Aside from that, they've covered it pretty well up there. I go through the creeks and channels and fish the docks and any kind of brush, stumps, overhanging trees and shade that I can find. The last week or two I've had much more luck toward the mouths of the creeks and channels rather than at the end. My spot I've been hitting has trees coming up from the water, is at a creek mouth and is surrounded by 1-2ft flats. I fish the trees and then the banks that have trees and brush.

Creek bends. Anywhere the creek changes directions. Some favor the inside swings, others the outside swings. I like 'em both depending on time of year but have caught better fish on the inside swings.

floating greens...a bass will get in where the water will cove their backs...water can be hot but as long as there is green grass's growing they will have plenty of oxygen and food will be in there too...flipp'n stick with braid, tungsten weight pegged and a sport worm hook and your plastic craw of choice and put it in all the holes... I always turn off all my electronics when i'm up shallow, if I need to know how deep it is I just stick the rod tip in till it touches the bottom, when you catch a fish, stick your rod tip in to see how deep it was...just my two cents

caught some near pads on small stickups in 1-1.5 ft of water this last weekend. We thought TW bite was over, then I caught a 5lber on a wacky and thought they gotta be still hitting tops so we paddled over ( kayak) and got blow ups on first cast. Water has to be in 90's but they were there, til 8 or so at least.

If I want to fish shallow in the heat I look for the nastiest stuff I can find. Anywhere some shade is present, and GRASS, lot's of grass(if you can find it)

Fish the shady places. Shade from trees, bushes, reeds, stumps, docks, steep banks, etc. Bass will get in shallow water if there is shade.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I look for the same thing when fishing shallow. I find that the fish will tolerate the warmer shallow temps if there is shade for them to use as cover.
