Thinking about bringing my son down in two weeks and staying at bluffs landing and have a few questions. I have a 24 foot bay boat (sportsman 247 w/ jackplate) and wondering if the channels are well marked in the area and out to packery channel? I definitely don't want to run up on any oyster beds and have no problem running nice and slow! How far is the run to the channel from Bluffs Landing? If the seas are up and we can't get offshore is there decent fishing inshore where I can stay in 3 feet or so without knowing the area? I'm willing to buy any local maps of the area if needed as I'm hoping this will be the first of many trips. Thank you.

Russcue, I posted something similar for Galveston. Search for this post and you'll get some great ideas that helped me. Tim

Thank you. I read your post and good info by all. I just ordered the navionics plus card for my simrad but judging by the web app it doesn't offer a lot of detail around the area I will be staying. I'm sure it's easily navigated just hoping to hear from some with knowledge of the area. Navigating unknown shallow areas sometimes takes the fun out of fishing!

I have a Majek and still get stuck on the bay I grew up in. so I hear ya..

resscue1 its a straight shot from bluffs to the ICW, as long as you dont shut it down maybe a mile hang a left and on to Packery, and there are plenty of fish within miles of the bluff, it is just like fishing any other bay system....good water + bait = fish.
if you look at google maps, you can see the cut, it gets a little shallow but its PROBABLY doable in your boat. Honestly I would stay on the island and launch out of Marker37 marina if youre wanting to get to the packery channel easily in your boat

Thank, that might be an option if I can find a decent price hotel with boat parking. I was hoping the channel was easy to navigate from bluffs because of the convenience of getting bait and parking and staying right there. I'll be coming this coming Wednesday morning and staying through Friday.
