I have a 2012 70HP Yamaha that shut down like it was out of gas, I would try to crank it and it would start then die.

this happened after a few hours of fishing, cranked up and moving a little above idle, say 5-8 mph, it just died, crank up then die, crank up then die. I had 3/4 of a tank(14 Gal) of gas. After about an hour, it cranked like nothing was wrong.

This happened back in March. took it to dealer, "could not duplicate" at that time I changed the water separated filter, checked fuel line connections between tank and engine. It happened again yesterday.

Anybody have any dealing with this type of problem?

Me too, people seem to have alot of gas issues lately. In my boat I have to squeeze the primer bulb once or twice and start it In choke mode when that happens. When my bulb firms up I'm golden

Might be overheating with the water temps at or near 90 deg now. might be the water pump is getting weak and doesn't pump enough at low rpm. My EFI 150 will sometimes get hot at extended idle especially is shallow warmer water even with a fairly new water pump. Of course there is always the bad gas thing with the separation of the corn likker.

These motors will start vapor locking before the high heat alarm sounds (ethanol). I agree with Muzzlebrake. Put a waterpump in it and replace the thermostat.
