Having never fished for brim in E. Texas (Tyler area), what are some good lakes close and what areas do you target?
I grew up in NE Louisiana fishing Caddo and now primarily fish Fork and Palestine for Crappie but my wife likes to fish foe Bluegill (or Brim as we call them). The lakes around here are so different from Caddo, I don't know where to start. Any hints would be appreciated.

Love the thump.

Been getting good reports from Travis State Park and Lake Athens! Lots of Big Bluegill being caught. You will have to check out the past post that were made not to long ago. thumb

Caddo is definitely a different beast compared to the other lakes out in EasTex. If it's not to far away, I would give the Grasslands a try. At least one of those lakes is normally producing if not the majority, and that park fishes as close to like Caddo as I can recall in that area.

Tyler State Park has some big gills in it. Murvaul and Naconichi are great spots too and not too far away. I usually pick up a few biguns every time I go crappie fishing.
