I've been waiting for the lake to clear and water level to come down, and it finally has. About 1 PM Sam and I launched at Midway Park ramp and headed north to the old Hwy 6 roadbed. We found whites at the east end of the roadbed and caught them steadily on #4 Mepps til we got to 50, then headed for the old submerged dam. Near the east end of it we marked fish, and started catching black bass - eleven of them up to 4 lbs at that spot. We were tossing the #4 Mepps down the slope of the north side of the old dam and working it up the slope 3 to 4 cranks of the reel at a time. We also caught 11 whites at that spot. Went to check out more of the old submerged dam when a jet ski pulled up calling for help. They had another jet ski half sunk and a run-about boat out of commission and needed towing back to the ramp. An hour and a half later, we had them safe at the ramp, and went back out to try one more spot - near the west end of the dam about 500 yards out where there was a lot of bottom structure. I had marked a spot there last year, and we found it loaded with fish - all white bass. We caught another 40 whites there in about 35 minutes, then headed in for supper.

What a great post. Most come on here and show off a picture of their fish without any helpful info. I like how you explain in detail what you did to find and catch them.

I have been wanting to go to Lake Waco for while now. Belton is still 9 feet high. Thanks for the great report. I find it so interesting that you start when everyone else goes home. The fish have settled on their structure and you just load them up. Good job Dennis.

Solid report, Dennis. Looks like the boat you towed had a pretty good load aboard it. Also, Appreciate your willingness to help others catch fish. thumb
