Guess the guides will be VERY happy since they'll have a virtual monopoly on fishing Belton...while those of us that can't get out there will be 'suffering' due to lack of fishing :-(

Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

Fished Belton last weekend and the level was fine. Water was still high and only a few ramps were open.

Not necessarily in the article, but it does say the lake will be closed till Memorial day NEXT year...
also, the reason I said that is THIS guy has been doing quite well, prolly because he's good, and prolly because there's no competition out there too...

The latest article says the ramps will be open about 2 weeks after the lake reaches conservation level. It should do that in about 10 days are the current rate of release. For some reason the COE has a perverse inclination to project much worse than it actually turns out. The water still has a tobacco looking stain to it. Boat traffic on the lake is definitely low but 100 degree weather may be part of the reason. I would bet the ramps will mostly be open by memorial day of this year.

I think they may be talking about parks, like Temple's lake park, where the restrooms have been destroyed...also, once the water recedes all of the zebra muscles will be exposed and will die and create a lot of stink, which they may want to pressure clean some areas. They need for the ramps to be out of the water for a bit before they're driven on so they don't get ruined, and they'll need to be cleaned off too so we don't slip down in to the lake from the yack build up...

Just saw this...looks like the lake is only 5' high now!

I drove by the lake this am. There were more than a couple boats out there. I went to check out the launch (by the dead fish restaurant) and it had 5 or so trucks and trailers parked with a few more lined up.

I do have a question for others who launch on Belton. Is there a ramp out there (or at stillhouse) with a dock that is usable? I may be launching by myself but with no usable dock i have to find another place. Lots of rocks on the shore.
