Good news for the PK folks,
Got to meet the Game Warden who is over the Possum Kingdom Habitat project last night. Various Bass clubs and special interests groups out that way have raised $5,000 to be used to add some really nice fish habitat's constructed out of plastic type fishing reefs. This project been a few years in the making, but in it's early inception, Parks and Wildlife filed for a Federal Grant for additional funds and has just recently got an additional $10,000 in Federal Grant money to make additional reefs on the lake.
The first phase has been in place for about 60 days. It will be interesting to hear and see the results of these off shore structures that have been created. They took ideas from the fisherman on how to make them and where to place them, and TPWD is currently taking additional locations under consideration for the next phase. If it's successful, I know of a lot more lakes I'd like to see these habitats go in.
