This time of year when it gets so miserably hot, I like to hit the creeks for bass. I usually throw a fanny pack on with essential lures, hooks and weights and just wade into the current until I'm either too tired to continue or my shins are too bruised (the bedrock here is no joke and can be a bit dangerous).
This type of fishing gets overlooked big time around here and often, if you walk far enough, you can find nice fish that aren't used to getting fished.
The wife and I loaded the kids and the bass equipment up this past weekend and took our cameras along in hopes of getting some top water bites on camera.
We ended up getting quite a bit of action on film and I even managed to pull a nice fish out of the water. Well, it was a nice one for the small creek we were in. Hope you enjoy the video. It was a booger to edit.

It's a totally different world out on those small creeks!! Watched Bill Dance do a few shows on them recently and even he was surprised the size of the bass coming from the "small water". And usually the fight from these fish are quite tough as they probably have never been hooked before! Thanks for putting a video together of your time out there!

No problem. I enjoy the video making process. And yes, I've caught some surprisingly good fish in small water.
Thanks for checking the video out!

Here's a couple good fish from about 18" of water along the dry frio. This area was dry in 2011. Pretty amazing how a big fish can survive in skinny water

This is a 20.5" post-spawn 5.25 lb beast that came from an urban creek no more than 20' wide. Plenty of nice fish in those small bodies of water!

Thanks man. I'm just trying to bring em up like I was brought up. My dad kept me in the woods and water and I'm very thankful for it now that I'm a dad myself.
