Any of you guys catching bream around bridge pilings? It used to be one of my favorite places to catch bream during the dog days of Summer. Kinda hard to find bream in rivers in CO.

Yes, I caught a few a couple weeks ago under a bridge on the Yegua. Smaller fish though.

Get good results at night especially if the bridge has lights. During the summer months a lot of insects get attracted to the lights and the fish get pretty active. Caught some nice bass night fishing bridges with lights. Also during the dog days of summer if the bridge pilings are in deep water 14 to 20 feet I get pretty good results! thumb

Side Note: Deep Bridge pilings are also good spots to find Crappie! hooked

Banker, if you are ever fishing Lake Placid in the Dog Days like this I have always done fairly well fishing just in front and the current break behind the bridge pilings for I-10. The long strip island just north of 10 has been good to me also. As well as the main river channel on the side of Son's Island. I fished the bottom with jigs or a deep slip bobber rig and would catch some big redears and sometimes big redbreasts when the current was right. The redear were more dependable. I don't know how it's flowing and what's been moved about lately so the info may be out of date, but that pattern produced for us for years.

Caught many of Crappie and bass under bridges fishing by pilings. Great spot for sure during certain times of the year.
