Past couple outings on Lake Austin caught grass carp on artificial top water. Go figure ... with no grass to eat they have to go after something else!!!

Oh no, they only eat invasive grass. Just ask TPWD

It is against to law to kill them. Both were released alive. It is my understanding sometime soon they will be available for harvest.

Actually it may be against the law today, but the permit will be lifted soon. See below of email I sent and the response I received.

Subject: Lake Austin and Carp Permit

Dear TPWD Fisheries Team,

We all appreciate the decision to pull the carp permit in order to help restore vegetative growth back in Lake Austin. We all want to restore natural balance and improve the ecosystem and water quality of our lakes and rivers. As an avid angler who used to fish Lake Austin 3-5 times per week and having caught four double digit fish from that lake, including my personal best all within one year 2013-2014, I look forward to fishing Lake Austin again and I also look forward to getting back the natural habitat and restoring this once great fishery again.
