I went to Granbury for the first time this weekend in my kayak and we put in next to a bunch of flooded bushes with some small trees mixed in. Average depth was only a few feet, and was close to the Blue Branch creek channel and a shoreline with good green grass and reeds. I ran a buzz bait and a swim jig through the brush and near some grass early and missed a couple and got one chunk. Then I left the area due to not having much confidence in fishing it once the sun got up. No hits on a frog near the reeds.

After some research it seems pitching a creature bit or jig would be good, along with a swim jig and spinner bait.

The specific area was just east of the ramp pictured below. It is all under water now so you may need to know the area.

Any tips will be much appreciated!

I like to pitch jigs in brush and against the reeds, i just have confidence in it. Another thing you could try is what you already mentioned, pegged trig with a creature bait. Lastly a weightless senko or fluke against the reeds has produced for me before.

Do you think the fact that the brush was dead looking affects it as far as holding fish?

That i dont know to be honest, I would say as long as you can see some bait present that there would be fish around. By no means an expert though, maybe someone with some more experience can come along and answer that

Lol, it was too far of a paddle to fish docks.

Flippin jig, pegged t-rig, or heavy shakey head 3/8 oz+ with a rodent, beaver, brush hawg. The brush needs cast a good shadow, pitch into holes where it's protected from light.

What if there aren't a lot of shadows? And does it only being 2-3 feet deep hinder the fish being there?

it could be a little shallow for this time of year, but you got bites in there.

I like to flip a beaver or d-bomb with a 1/2oz-1oz tungsten flipping weight

throw a baby brush hog in your favorite color and hit as many things as you can to cover water until you find what is preferred.

It may not if the water is cloudy/dirty. Regardless of shade, it's still cover.

Work the spook over the outer edges; then I run my spinner bait and custom Drop-In bait until I get bit. Then I pick that area apart with all the slow moving jigs and plastics.

Don't be afraid to put on a 3/4 or 1oz weight and flip right in the middle off those bushes. That's where they will be most times. Especially when there has been a lot of pressure and it's real hot. I would also start on the ones closest to the main lake.

Good advice. This is my preferred method of fishing. Just get up close and personal with heavy line and a heavy hook.
