I finally made the trip to CC to fish with my dad. We have both been trying to get our schedules to match up for a while now.
I had to leave Springtown at 2:00 AM to meet him at 4:00 in Ennis, and then get to the ramp in time to catch a few shad before daylight. Next time I will go the night before and find a bed to sleep in. We fished till after dark, and I got back to Springtown at 12:45 AM this morning. I did get a nap, mid day at his lake house in Malakoff, which helped.
We started out at Caroline East Point, then to A frame point. We spent most of our time at A frame point and NO name hump, down to west side dam point, in the morning.
And at A frame point in the evening, then worked over to crappie point sw toward dark.
Most of the day was spent feeding our shad to channel cats at each place.
Although we did troll crankbaits a lot and Ron rigs some.
We marked a ton of fish and bait, but only landed 1 sand bass and 1 keeper hybrid on a crankbait/spoon rig. Besides the 50 or so channel cats.
My first time on CC and my dad's first time this year.
I suppose I should have followed Mr. Christian's advice and got some Mepps spinners to use on this lake, but hoped to catch some larger hybrid instead of small fish.
Towards dark, we began to think those small fish might not have been so bad compared to how our day went.
Told pops to get his boat out and figure those hybrid out before I make that trip again.

Definitely agree. It's been a while since we've been able to fish together. Good day, but a very long one.

I fished Cedar Creek on Sunday, Also. It was a tough day for the Adventures of Mighty Mike and Big Al. We fished every spot on the south end. Pitts Point, Stauback, St. Annes, Bird house, Dam Hump, Flag Pole. Managed 10 keepers, a ton of yellow bass and 5 small catfish.
Fishing is always better than working!!!!!!!!
Mike

Mike, it sounds like you had a good day with 10 keepers and all the others. Good job!

Fishing anywhere south of Long Ridge has been poor of late. It's better farther north, i e. Key Ranch, Merimac Point, Iron Wall Hump, Spillway Hump, The Rock Pile, Enchanted Isle Ridge and Sunken Island. I fished some of these spots Saturday 7/30 and quit when I got to 50 whites. Using Mepps there are 2 patterns: (1) shallow (12 to 18 fow) using #2 Mepps with weight up the line, jerk-starting the retrieve, and (2) using #2 or #4 Mepps in deeper (20 to 26 fow) water. Iron Wall Hump had them in the deeper water and the other spots mentioned above have had them in the shallow pattern.

Thanks, Dennis. I started to call you a couple of times, but hated to bother you. I mostly had heavier tackle and lures for hybrid. Next time I am down there, I will let you know.
