Me and Pops are headed to Uvalde the first of September for opening day of Dove season and figured we'd haul the boat with us to hit Amistad for a couple days.

I've just got a couple of questions for you guys that fish there.

First, do I need 1000# steel braid on all my reels like you do on Falcon? We learned that lesson the hard way our first trip down there. Should 15-17# flouro suffice?

Second is the tackle. From what I hear, Amistad has some pretty clear water. Will my watermelon plastics do the trick in clear water or will I need to add something special to my tackle warehouse order.

And lastly, the lodging. I am planning on booking a room at Amistad Lake Resort as it seems to be very reasonable and right on the water. Does anybody have any experiences here or recommend somewhere to stay. Nothing fancy, we just need some A/C and somewhere to rest our head.

September can't come soon enough as I am impatiently waiting to hit the road with my Dad. Regardless of whether we shoot any birds or catch any fish, a weekend away with the Pops is always a good memory. Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The trailers have gone up to $80 per night for two fisherman.
