I have recently just moved to Texas a few months ago. I finally got the boat registered and ready to go, as well as joined a local bass club. I'm going to try sand get out on Quitman a few times this August because thats where the next tournament is. I've been checking the lake out on Navionics and it seems pretty clear of timber but just shallow for the most part. I'm curious if there is any where I should avoid running on plane or any other tips that would help out my days on the water.

Thanks!

welcome To the Forum.

Papamark may come along. He might know something in that area.

Welcome to Texas and TFF. Be very careful on Quitman. You can run up on some shallow water very quick, some areas you wouldn't expect. It's been a hard lake for me to fish but I wish you luck.

Thanks for the advice and warm welcomes! My lady and I went out today from 6-11am and did some scouting, found quite a few of those stumps. Fished mostly docks and managed 3 fish, all off the same dock. All in all it was a fun morning on the water on a new lake. Looking to go back in the coming weeks.
