School me. Football, casting, horizontal line tie, vertical line tie? I've flipped a football jig around a couple docks with no luck. That's my experience with a jig. However, I've built some huge brush piles out of wood palets and I'm looking for the bigger bite. I throw big cranks over other piles and catch some good ones, also fish a shakey head around docks about 90% of the time. FYI, I'm on Cedar Creek.

Pallets will "eat" your line and lures up. The Cracks are very unforgiving when you get your lure in them.

I prefer swim jigs and arkie jigs (nose/vertical line tie) for timber/brush piles.

My primary bait is a jig, BUT don't rule out a t-rig 10 or 12 inch worm over said brush pile...

If you are already zeroed in where your targeting(like your brushpiles), a flipping jig might be a better option. Football jigs are more for searching bottom composition like shell beds, rockpiles, brushpiles etc. But since you already know exactly where your casting, a flippin jig will come through your brushpiles easier than the wide profile of a football jig. Just my .02

Just my .02 X2 ^^ Also, a football jig falls through the water more horizontally than a flipping jig since the center of gravity is further back on the hook shank, a flipping jigs falls nose down and "swims" to the bottom. When i'm trying to get a bite on the fall it makes a difference. Plus a flipping jig will go through wood better.
I say we fish 5 days a week and work 2.

Try these in 1/2 oz with a big hook and your favorite plastic. No jig comes thru thick cover as good as these. Don't get me wrong. I love dragging a FB jig in deep water and I love fishing a jig around grass and brush piles but they won't come through the nasty stuff as well as these. No offense Mr. Mitchell.
