SIMRAD is one of the best I have seen, but I do like my birds.

I don't see how people say that Garmin mapping is the best. I have LakeVu HD mapping on mine and I still have to use the Navionics app on my phone to find humps and other structure and then input the coordinates in to my unit.

Garmin has run their mapping boats on select lakes, it is possible that your lake has not been updated.

Has 1' contours, until you get offshore. Then there's absolutely no structure detail (humps, long points, etc.).

I really like my Humminbirds and have for a while. Currently running the Helix 10s and have no complaints at all, that being said there are several great technologies that are out right now, but for me I would stick to Humminbird or Lowrance. What Garmin has introduced really is amazing with the instant detail for seeing fish etc, but until their mapping is updated I would have a hard time using any Chartplotter that forces your hand to only use 1 mapping program. With Humminbird you have multiple options, same with Lowrance, I have not had the chance to use a RayMarine much so cant really comment on them from lack of experience.
