We've got a house rented for a long weekend on LBJ with family August 5th and I've never bass fished or any fishing on this lake, any info would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you

skip docks with senkos
hit community grass holes with plastics, swimbaits and cranks (a quick google earth check will show them)
Fish the lights at night (horseshoe bay) and mark them and fish them again first thing in morn.

What Chris said.

Be aware that there is granite in the back of some of the pockets. Be careful or you will have to be in touch with your fiberglass guy (or prop guy.....or both).

I've been on a good, consistent bite pitching water willow the past month and a half. I'm headed to the coast this weekend so I wont be able to tell you if the rain this week has moved those fish from that pattern. But you'll know pretty quick if they're there, 5/16th-3/4oz weight with a soft plastic of your choice.

Watermelon or Green pumpkin weightless Senko on docks once the sun come out is good year round on LBJ and will put some in the boat.

I say we fish 5 days a week and work 2.

Green pumpkin senkos and plastics on docks. If you can find the grass, throw a shad crankbait, a small paddletail swimbait, and a shakey head rigged with a 6" watermelon red trick worm. You can skip docks with a shakey head too. Dock lights are always good for fish too and there's a load of em' up the Colorado and around Horseshoe Bay. If you feel like fishing the dock lights, a wacky rigged senko and a swimbait will get you bites.

Did they spray the grass on LBJ? Is it matted at all?

Yes, they sprayed it. There's still some left if you know where to look.

To the original poster.....there is grass left and it's not hard to find. It grows back in relatively the same spots year after year despite spraying it. Get on GE and use your historical data slider to see the locations year after year. Make some WP's and load them into your unit and go out and scan. You will find it.

Honestly for me the better pattern has always been docks with senkos......just saying. Not knowing the lake I'd arm myself with a wacky worm and put the trolling motor on high. It's easy to get sucked into "textbook summer fishing" on that lake and go scan and find the millions of rocks and trees in 40-60ft.....and you might catch a few fish, but most of the tournaments won out there are from a handful of docks that always hold fish and an occasional big bite from a community grass hole.

He's right, the almighty SENKO bow_down never fails at LBJ.
