Is this bite going strong again in the early morning? Bout to head up there to finish the week off and celebrate the birthday and was just hoping to get on it like I have in years past.

Depends on what you mean by "strong"? I've been on the lake at sunrise 3 days in the past two weeks and I've seen little activity. It may last 30 minutes or so and you might get 2 maybe 3 shots at landing one. Please keep in mind I'm just an amateur and not a guide. Maybe you'll get lucky and one of those guys will chime in. Post your progress if you don't mind... I'll let your fishing report dictate if I'm on the water again this weekend

We have caught one fish top water in the last 11 trips. I think top water wont be effective until september with cooler weather. They have been between 15 to 20 ft early morning and push to 30 to 40 by 8 am. Now if you meen white bass top water, we have been getting them early but the boils only last about 20 mins or so. Find flats, islands and fish of those ledges and windy points

Texoma has had a great top water bite in June, July and August for the first hour of daylight and last hour of daylight for many years. On a cloudy or cooler day in those months it could last all day and just moves out over deeper water. This patterns has not been present the last 2 years due to flooding. Hopefully we will see this back in a few years. It was a lot of fun to catch those big boys on topwater baits.

Not enough Striper and too much bait for any reliable consistent Striper topwater bite like we did have in years past. And it will be a while before it returns to that.

If you have a real cold winter and shad kill it will be back.
