Hi All,
I am brand new to this forum and would ask if anyone has knowledge or experience In this area. I expect to be wading, or fish from a kayak. My only flyrod is a 5wt Which should be adequate for trout and bass in this river. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, GunRunr

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Thank you both. Nice to find good fishing close to San Antonio. Maybe someday the trout will have lived here long enough to spawn. Did some checking on the limits in that area, and found that I can keep One trout per day over 18". Interesting video. Had no idea smallmouth were anywhere near here.
Much obliged

The Guad has some holdover trout, but little or no spawn. They do put some big rainbows in there during the fall/winter. Above Canyon Lake there aren't many trout, but lots of bass and sunfish.
The lower Guad is full of catfish and lots of warm water species too.
Good luck
