I was just up there this past weekend, staid at Lago Vista bed and breakfast with the wife. Is was great.

Sorry I didn't get to go fishing. I saw lots of pleasure boaters and the fisherman I saw were on main lake points shallow.

Main lake points and deep creeks. Was up there over the weekend. Wasn't seriously fishing just showing the wife the lake a piddling. What didn't work was topwaters or medium cranks. 28 to 36 ft slow rolling a big underpin on botton

I was there last week and although we only fished for a few hours on Monday and Tuesday morning, we did fairly well. On Monday we caught some nice smallies off a main lake point on drop shots and top waters, and on Tuesday we caught some nice largemouths and kentuckys on a bank that had just transitioned from a VERY steep drop to a 45 degree slope. Caught the best fish (4.2 lb largemouth and 2 lb Kentucky) on a bluegill colored fluke.

Lago Vista is a great place, good people. We've stayed there a few times. They also own several nice cabins too.

Bass fishing has been a little slow for me. A lot of fish are deep now. Can't wait for fall. Fishing is really good during deer season when most people are in the woods. If you are good at drop shoting you can still catch some nice bass. Crappie fishing is very good on brush piles. If you want to catch a bunch of big crappie give Doug Story a call. He is catching 50 to 70 a day. Look up Doug Story guide service. He is the best crappie guide on the lake and has at least 50 brush piles out. I also have 7 cabins I would love to rent you. See deercrkretreat.com.

I am headed up there in Aug - is there a thermocline on BB?
i know they release regularly and from bottom gates, so i wasn't sure how much it stratifies compared to other reservoirs.

Not really. Most of the fish will position in the 15-25 foot range. I believe it is more due to water temp and light penetration than oxygen.
