For easy public access and great fishing IMHO you would be hard pressed to find a better kayaking & fishing river in the whole state of Texas.

Thanks for sharing the Video. I thought the dam was releasing quite often down there. Is there a schedule that lets you know when? Thanks

I've only fished the section below lake Whitney but the whole river from Waco to Possum Kingdom is great. We always launch at Riverside park..

Me and a friend fished below whitney dam Friday and the fishing was awesome. We went down about three miles and on the way back up they started letting water out of the generator. Was a grueling paddle back but the morning fishing made it worth the effort.

Matt.

How deep is it there at the ramp behind the dam? Like could you dump in a flatbottom CC?

The river is shallow behind the dam unless there is water flowing. It was real shallow when we launched last Friday.
