Even if you are painting your own....you still gotta buy the lure from somewhere. Unless you are whittling your own balsa wood too. Haha.

Glad to know I have to pay for the lure I paint, I almost forgot.

1. Rod? >$300

2. Reel? >$200

3. Regular size spool of line? >$30

4. Hardbait? >$15

5. Bag of soft plastics? > $10

6. Large soft swimbait? > $10

7. Large hard swimbaits? Never used them

8. Pack of hooks? > $20

9. Topwater? > $25

10. Pack of weights? > $10

I am not the type of fisherman that looks for the cheap off brand rods/reels/lures/terminal stuff, but I can't justify a $500.00 rod nor a $400. plus reel either. My money well has a cap on it. To those that can more power to you and to those less fortunate, I have had my butt handed to me by better fishermen, using lesser gear than I typically would use. I use what gives me a confidence level to succeed with my current abilities. Sometimes I lose that battle too smile

He didn't ask about your discounts... Etc. he asked what's the most you would be willing to pay. At a retail level. Not a homemade level. Not a found it refurbish it level. Haha.

The prices I put are the most I've paid, retail, for any one of my things on his list. My average prices are much lower. I get a lot of stuff now at a really good deal. I didn't say "free" or "$0". I put what's the most I've paid. Since obviously, I was willing to pay it at least once.

You guys know what I mean. NOTHING is free. Even homemade stuff costs something.

I gotta raise the [censored] flag on the highest you will pay is $3 on a full spool of line.

I actually have purchased a regular size spool of mono for $1.73 at Walmart. All depends on what you buy and where you shop. Also, I made it a personal mission to try all brands and discovered that for fishing the local river expensive line isn't required for what I do. One of my favorites is still Big Game for strength and price.

Where can I buy a spool like that? 900 yards for a dollar.

I once bought a shopping cart full of stuff on clearance at Walmart. Didn't even bother to sort through it. Just rolled it to the counter. It had dozens of spools or 4lb Trilene, 6lb spider wire, bags and bags of zoom lizards. Etc. 25 cents per item. Spent $60 odd dollars to get it all. Most of it is useless. But, it was cheap.

Well considering I sell about 100 baits for every one bait that sees my boat I would be willing to bet the baits I use are free.

I really don't have a limit, my next reel will be the new Metanium and I will put it on a Dobyns DX 784 XP. The most I ever spent on a rod and reel was a Loomis NRX and a Shimano Calais.
