would you use the snell knot on a jig? You don't have enough room at the line tie to use an effective snell on a jig. (not enough space for the wraps around the line tie shank--some jigs with the recessed eye, there is no room for the snell) Because you are dragging the jig head over rocks/timber, the knot gets a lot of abrasion, so I like a bulky knot when tying to jig heads (doubled pitzen/doubled uni/san diego jam)

I should have been more specific, sorry. I build jigs on the lake using weight, hook, skirt, and trailer. Just wondered if it would help the hook up ratio if I used the snell knot when tying on the hook.

If you are using a flipping hook or other straight shanked hook to build your jigs, then the snell is a good idea.
