I know that this subject has been beating down but going to ask again for a refresh update due to changes made at stores. Any recommendations on a Cranking battery? I currently have a Sears group 31 it's the battery that a lot of people went to for a cranking battery and in order to run there Live wells/aerators depth finders power poles mainly everything but trolling Motors but in the last year or so they don't make that battery any more so I'm in need of a replacement for my Yamaha 200 plus all the stuff I mention any recommendation, don't see where Walmart has a 31 battery and I don't think a 29 will handle it all. Anyone have luck with Interstate batteries I have not in the past but maybe they have gotten batter. If I can make room in my TR20 battery compartment I'm thinking about getting a smaller cranking battery just fro cranking and live wells and a smaller deep cycle for my depth finders/Power Pole.

I went to a 31 Interstate and have had no problems at all, 2 HDS 8's all day sometimes several days a week. Also Academy has 31's. I will not go back to a 29. Until a few years ago Walmart had 31s' which worked well.

Lenahorse, are you using a dual purpose for cranking and if so what's the cold cranking amps?

I fish a lot and have had Interstate 29's in every boat I've owned and never had an issue

First and foremost make sure you are using the correct battery per your outboard mgf specifications....
