I fish it on a t-rig. I'll peg it if I plan on flipping it.

Both of the above are very good ways. But don't forget the original way with a wobble head jig like the Biffle Hardhead & slow reeling on the bottom like a CB. When they are feeding on shad, the Smoke Silver one can be deadly. If it's a craw bite, Sooner Run will get you bit also. Another trick a pro at the Classic told me about was to put 1/2 of a lemon flavored Alka Seltzer in the body cavity.

I'd never heard the Alka seltzer tip before. One guy told me to put a foam ear plug in the body cavity to make it float on a C rig or drop shot. Anyone had any luck with that?

Great question Goodman....I usually Texas rig them with decent results but am now eager to try some of these other methods too.

I like swimming like a swimbait through grass. Actually prefer the Stike King Rage Bug on a Strike King Jointed Structure Head for this.

It's one of my favorite baits. I only use Senkos more.
I use them almost always on a big flipping hook. I always have a tungsten weight pegged on it. I mostly flip it at stuff. I then hop it a few times and swim it back. I use them any time I would use a jig, but the cover is too "trashy". A bug doesn't get stuck as often. I also like to slide the weight up a foot or more and make it a c rig bait inbetween stuff to flip.
As for making it float? It floats REALLY well on its own. I have never had to add buoyancy to the bait. When I'm really working a laydown hard, the water around my boat looks like a war zone with little floating, destroyed Biffles everywhere. Haha.
The reason I always use a flipping hook is the way it curls the head upwards. It makes the bait stay oriented well and the diving action this way is what I feel gets the bait bit a bunch. Many of my bites in the bait happen on the fall. It will not make it to the bottom. If it does make it, I tighten up the line and hold it still for a few seconds. The fish may have nosed down to it. I wait....if nothing a couple quick short pops. Still nothing? Probably won't be. So I reel in an cast again.
As a c rig bait, I just slow drag it. I usually do this between flipping. So I don't expect much, just don't want to not have a line in the water. It's usually in a stretch where I am too lazy to crank the square bill rod. Haha. In c rig mode, I get bit...just not as often as I would with a fluke or lizard or something like that. Don't know why. Probably because I'm dragging it through unproductive water? Dunno. Don't care. It's just making me feel better about trolling to the next lay down or stump.
As for the Biffle swinghead? Hmmm. They are awefull in my opinion. Nothing works better than a 4/0'or 5/0 big nasty.

Steez,
What's your best color?
For me dark watermelon neon or Sooner Run, both are similar to California 420. Also, Blackberry Sapphire when the water dirtier. Lots of success flipping/pitching/punching or on Bifflehead fishing it like a football head jig.

VMC Swinging Rugby Jig I like to use my Biffle Bugs on this jighead. I like this particular one because the the shank is a little bit longer and that helps keep your bait straight, better. The paint job is a lot better on this one than Gene Larew's jighead. I think the hook is better too.

I fish it a ton of different ways. T-rig, C-rig, Biffle Head, Jig trailer, Chatterbait trailer and as someone else mentioned swimming it like a swim bait thru flood brush. Colors will depend on the lakes you fish but for me in North and NE Texas my go to's have always been a Christmas Pumpkin (deadly on Monticello), Sooner Run, Blackberry Sapphire and Green Pumpkin/Chartreuse Pepper.
If you have any specific questions about the Biffle Bug or any other Larew baits, feel free to send me a PM.

I almost always use green pumpkin. 90% of the time. The other 10% is sooner run or blackberry. The weight I use is dependent on what I'm fishing. If I am flipping deep or thick mats, 1 or even 1.5ounce. If I'm flipping shallow (but deep enough to get the boat close...+\- 2 ft deep) I will use as little as 1/4ounce. If I'm flipping shallow, but I have to have the boat backed off, I will use 3/8 - 1/2 ounce.
Ideally, the lighter weight is what I want. Slow fall is better for the bug. I only use as heavy a weight as I have to use.
As for my color choice. Green pumpkin is the best universal color. It makes it easy to order 20'bags at a time from TW. The other colors, I'll just grab a bag here and there.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.
