Bought new to me boat, been a long time since had one, question is paying sales tax do you give em bill of sale or does it go by book value?

You pay sales tax on the amount of the bill of sale.

Be sure they break it up on your bill of sale between the boat, motor and trailer.

Be sure they break it up on your bill of sale between the boat, motor and trailer. This is true, trailer tax will be paid with trailer registration.....

thanks for replies, new to this stuff, do I need trailer title also? one more question,bought boat from indivual,do I have him make a bill of sale? thanks a bunch.

no title for trailer, I would get bill of sale and registration if they have it for the trailer.
You can download forms from Tx Parks and Wildlife site for the boat and motor, seller signs them and prices are filled out and they are the documents to take to Parks and Wildlife with the titles.

Trailer title will depend on the size. Over a certain GVWR and they are titled. If not then owner should have a certificate of origin from the manufacturer.
