Just curious what other people do. When you get back from fishing, do you take your tackle out of the boat and put it in the garage or other storage location (shed, house, whatever) or do you just keep it in the boat? Also, I guess it would depend on where you keep your boat.
Mine is in a shady spot in my driveway with a cover on, and I take all of my rods and tackle boxes out between trips. Mainly because of the heat during the summer, but also because I feel like all of my baits and line will acquire too many boat scents and make the fish less likely to bite. Maybe I am overthinking that last one, but the thought is in my head.....
If I had a dedicated boat garage I would probably just keep it all in my boat 24/7.....

I didn't think about aquired smells but would be more worried about theft of the whole boat isn't inside locked up somewhere.

When I lived in Irving I always kept everything in the boat in the front driveway with the cover on
Never got messed with in 10 years
I moved and now keep it in storage unit, I still keep most everything in it

Boat stays in the garage, so I leave all my gear in the boat. Can't say I believe in the boat smell thing though...

That would take way too long for the amount of craap I roll with.

Well, this is what I wish I had but do not. Keep my rig under carport and under cover but, still take the rods/reels/tackle out of my boat. I'm just not that trusting even though we live out in the country. Ideally, the heat/cooled garage storage so it's ready to go is by far the best. I keep all mine in the boat. Sometimes I leave my rods strapped on the deck after fishing. I have a open double carport that it's parked in. I only lock my rod boxes when I'm on vacation. Nobody bothers anything around here, but I guess there is always a first time. Live 9 miles from town.

I take the electronics off of it and rods/reels from it. Unplug the TM. Lock the hitch. Then, go about my day. That's if it's left outside. I currently have two boats to deal with, so one gets the garage. And it is washed and waxed, kept loaded, and ready for travel. The other is kept charged, fueled, and ready for local lakes. One I own...the other is kinda sorta leased, and way more than I can afford to replace.

Wish I had a garage or shop it would fit in. Electronics go inside of house and everything else stays in boat and under cover. If I took out all my rods, trays and tubs of plastics, it would add 30 minutes every trip just putting them back in and another 30 taking them out (plus the 30 to wipe down the boat). If stuff is taken I'll probably wish I did more....but that is why I have insurance.
