Somerville is now 11.5' above normal. In about 7-8 days the lake should drop below the 10' level and we will start to see some boat ramps open if the road ways and the boat ramps are not damaged.

There are lots and lots of bryozoans in the water right now, as they require warm water to grow. These jelly like globs, actually feel like a wet unpeeled orange, are actually a glob of one cell animals. They filter water thru the blob as eat, thus are said to be good for the water. Some get two feet across and they attach to sticks and limbs. For size purpose n photo shows a leaf floating in front of it.

Thursday I had Bill and his brother in law, Carl, from Devine, out on Somerville for the morning. Some days you throw out chum and no fish show up, but today they were hungry. Bill had the most fish and the largest, and he had the most that got away. He had three fish that got close enough to see, then managed to get hung on under brush and get off, all in the 4-5# size.

They ended the morning with 37 nice cats for the cleaning table. All caught using corks, in 4-10 foot water, using CJ's Shad punch bait.

Today I had Ronny from Black Jack, Ronny from Five Points, and Howard the Dairy Queen reject, out on Somerville for the morning. The lake had dropped about 7" since Thursday, so the fish had moved a little deeper from where they were. They did however seem to prefer being in the shade under the trees today.

We ended the morning at 11 am to try and beat the heat, with 35 nice cats in the cooler. Fish again caught in 4-10' water, but different spots than the ones we caught on Thursday. All caught using corks and CJ's Crawdad punch bait.

So being on the lake is OK right now IF you can find a way to put a boat in?
