Has anyone heard of anyone pretending to hire a guide, with intent to use credit card for payment. Maybe suggesting that they sign up for a certain credit card service to complete transaction. Questioning because the other signals raises even more red flags.

Glad I'm not the only one suspicious of this, trip may be legitimate, but communication was too slow to be legitimate. I mainly want to put it out there for the guides in our areas. I hate thieves.

Are you said guide? Contact authorities and set up a sting operation. Just be sure to keep us updated.

They pay with a fake/stolen card, don't show, then ask for a refund via PayPal or credit card payment. It's all done from overseas via email and Skype. There isn't anyone to physically arrest. No law enforcement agency would waste time on it.

Other signals-trip is niece turning 16, party of 6 for July 23, Online search of name and occupation revealed about 20 results. Occupation being one that should have periods of no communication. All this being said, If this was a legitimate trip, I apologize for the skepticism, but my gut instincts say no apologies necessary. No, it was a trip I was asked to help out on, when my friend showed the credit service demand, I told him cash only, 5 days later still no response. So I'm fishing solo this afternoon after I earn a honest days pay.

Maybe they wanted to guide to sign up for Pay Pal so they could pay with a credit card or leave a deposit on a credit card?
It's irritating to me when a guide wants a deposit but doesn't take pay pal. Writing a check, addressing an envelope, finding a stamp and mailing it is so 1980 and people like me are subject to find someone who either takes pay pal or doesn't require a deposit. But I have no issue paying the balance with cash or check.
If you do open a pay pal account, go to paypal.com yourself and do it.... type it in the brower yourself. Don't follow a link someone sent you.

I had something like this happen...The "client" wanted all of my personal information to send payment to my house. My thought was he wanted to open a credit card in my name, you know the one he claimed is registered in another country.

They should wear revealing clothing must be ready and willing if fishing is slow and must be able to handle a 6 inch swimbait.

I know you're trying to be funny but it's not in good taste IMO.
