I have two 7ft med heavy uglisticks with TLD 15 and Penn 30 levelwind. These are basically my btb kayak rigs. Will they be sufficient for a 12 hour trip? I assume I can bring my own rigs and jigs. There are two of us. Bring another rod each? Spinning? If so light or heavy? Thanks.

If one was to ask me I would reply probably not,
take your rods and try them they should get a good testing.

I never fished for the regular PB fish rather used big baits freelined and always did well, be back the 7-8th.

If you like fishing there move to the Blue Fin in Freeport and you will never return to a regular party boat

what boat you on?

My normal go to reel
Largest on it 253# bull shark, 83# AJ, many in the 30-40# range, and I was spooled my 1st trip with it, you would have a hard time keeping a fish off a rig, instant cut line,
a 4-6/0 Senator is hard to beat on a larger rod and not expensive on ebay

Thanks for the info. I don't have a boat booked. I usually charter out of Venice but I need to watch the pennies. Kind of figured I would need to move up a step or two. I haven't fished a party boat in years but I assume I'd want my own rods instead of theirs.

I'd really be just as happy catching blackfin. I'm not as excited about dropping a bait down 30 fathoms only to reel it back up.

I never thought about Freeport. I will check it out.
