It is unusual for me to have an entire week of guide trips. Took customers out Monday though Friday this week. Do not believe I could have gone out today. I switched on the Ranger game @ 7 PM & was asleep before the first inning ended (they lost again). The temperature increased and the catching decreased as the days progressed. Friday was very tough & my customers went home with 3/4 gallon bag of fillets. Monday through Thursday we fished only 3 spots that have been dependable. Friday the fish had disappeared & we had to burn some fuel looking. The graph was showing a line that looked like bait everywhere we looked @ 16 feet. This was possibly the thermocline. I do not think we caught a fish deeper than that either. Found large schools of bait everywhere we looked. So, yesterday I just started drifting in the shallow water and bumping the slab off the bottom. A school of fish would show on the graph and we would land a couple before they disappeared. It was slow, but at least we caught a few.

How come we didn't see you out there on Friday, Don? Ernest and I were out there from 6 am to about 11/11:30. We caught good crappie, and the sandies seemed to be everywhere we looked. But, mostly schooling on surface. I know you are not a fan of that type fishing, but boy were they out and about!
