I've got a 2014 skeeter with a 175 Yamaha. It begin to cut out now and then. Sunday it suffered a power loss. Had trouble getting it on plane. When it did get on plane it was missing 20 mph off of top end. The bulb gets tight when pumped, but after running it is soft. I was wondering what some of causes for this might be?

Manual fuel pump diaphragms, O2 sensor or motor blown.

Anytime your engine cuts out, stop running it immediately and get it fixed. Ask me how I know. Hope you didn't drop a cylinder. You can pull the plugs and you will know.

Thank goodness. Make sure you are changing ALL the fuel filters every year. That's what popped mine. And luckily it was under warranty and yamaha paid the $8,500 bill.

I bought this boat back in February. It was a 2014, but new. I'm not happy. It's too new to be having problems! Maybe I should have bought one with the SHO.

I was wondering if there was and indcater on the fuel filter under the hood. The one with the see through housing. A float ring maybe. To show if it had water in it. This tzx 195 has basic gauges on the cockpit. I don't know if too much water will set off an alarm.

There is a fuel water separator close to the fuel tank selector. It does not have an alarm for water. My dealer recommends changing it every six months.
Have you tried running it on each tank? Sounds like it might be a check valve on one of the fuel tanks.
Take it back to the dealer and have them check it out.
Your setup on the TZX195 should be exactly the same as my ZX190. The 175 is usually a very reliable motor. Mine is four years old and not a lick of trouble. Usually very few complaints about this motor or the 150 on Yamaha sites.

For more instrumentation your can connect this motor to a NMEA 2000 network. Either replace the gauges or display on a compatible fish finder.

It runs the same on either tank (poorly) I just went through a first time service a few hours ago. They even did a fuel test, because I told them that it cut out a couple of times. They told me that they checked the filter also. It just started doing this again, and got worse. I looke under the cowling, and saw a somewhat clear plastic filter Housing. The book said something about a float indcater. I was just hoping to find that it was something simple. I don't think bad gas is covered by warrienty. I like to fish to much to be down for 2 weeks DAMN IT!

Bad gas would not be covered by warranty. If it had water in the gas I doubt it would run at all. I would have them get a Yamaha tech to look at it.
If it sat for a long time the fuel line or bulb could have rotted and debris is clogging the filter inside.
I run mine at least twice a week, keep fresh gas at all times, and use the Ymaha fuel stabilizer and ring free.
The dealer having your boat is painful but once the issue is resolved it is a reliable motor.

The power loss tuned out to be a clip on the throttle cable. The clip popped up. When I pressed the hot foot, the cable would just pull toward. This wouldn't allow the linkage to open up all the way. The miss was caused by a bad connection on a injector driver. It runs like a top now! Everything was covered by warranty.

Cool. Glad the dealer got it resolved for you. Painful I know to be without but she should be reliable from here on out. Enjoy!
Replace the water separator filter every 6 mos or 50 hours. Replace lower unit oil every year or 100 hours. Replace water pump every 100 hours unless you can monitor the pressure with a digital read out.
Run Ring Free and the Fuel Stabilizer and run it like you stole it. That motor loves WOT (it loves gas more!)
I think running them once or twice a week is great therapy to keep them running good.

I'm almost through one bottle of ring free. I've been putting stabil in every fill up. I don't run her wide open all the time. Sucks too much fuel! The shop told me that I had 49 hours on it. That was two weeks ago. I do get on the water about twice a week. I need to find something to measure the ring free. Hard to tell how much I'm putting in. I got 62 mph out of her last week. Not fast but, it gets me to the fish.
