I am about to purchase a Helix 7 SI, will I be able to upgrade to the HD transducer?

Yes, Humminbird has a transducer exchange program. It is handled by Customer Service.

Do not open the included transducer mount package or unwrap the transducer.

The HDSI transducer is a more expensive one and the exchange amount is about $85 including shipping. Then you have to ship the included transducer to Humminbird and they receive it before the HDSI is shipped to you.

The part name is XHS 9 HDSI 180 T for the transom mount and XTM 9 HDSI 180 T for the trolling motor mount---same transducer, just different mount included.

It does not give the Helix 7 SI GPS any more capability, just sharper images due to the longer SI crystals.

It is typically less than a week turn-around IF they have the transducers in stock. That exchange happens often and there has been a several week delay due to no stock recently.
CALL to find out.
