I have been really trying to get a deep bite going on these two lakes the past few trips. Just can not make it happen. Has anyone had any success out deep, or am I just not getting it done?

Man, I can promise you somebody is catching them out there. I've found a couple spots that are holding some nice fish but timing is critical or you can't get bit. They definitely aren't in the usual spots for me but they are out there, just not as far as you think.

I have found 5 deep spots that produce consistently in the past year on Rayburn. All be it I have yet to catch anything over 4 pounds on these spots but the amount of 2 and 3 lb fish is nuts. I have no idea how many hours I have spent looking to locate these spots but I know it is a lot. Keep at it and a you will find them. I will be honest I am almost convinced that Rayburn seems, to me at least, to fish better shallow. I have caught most of my larger fish there. Maybe it has to do with the water level but when I get my boat back I plan to keep looking deep until I have exhausted every thing. This is the perfect time of year to find those deep water spots. Just my 2 cents.

I have tried "deep" also on both lakes and have not been able to find the 4+ lb fish with any consistency. Lots of small ones though.

There are some deep this year but the majority are still "shallow". They aren't out there in 20+ feet like years when the lake is low.
